MASSACHUSETTS BILL CHALLENGES TRADITIONAL NONCOMPETE AGREEMENTS

Governor Baker is expected to sign into law a bill that could require employers to pay an employee’s salary for up to a year and ban noncompetes for low wage workers, University students or those employees terminated without cause or laid off. The Massachusetts legislation is believed to be an indication of the next phase of employee rights advocates, many of whom are watching Massachusetts as a test case.
