Landmark Win for St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners on Constitutional Case

On Thursday, April 10, 2014, HesseMartone client the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners prevailed in a constitutional challenge to its 2012 Rules and to its decisions to exclude certain members of the police department from collective bargaining. The Circuit Court ruled in favor of all defendants and dismissed the Petition in its entirety.

This landmark decision represents both the first time that a law enforcement employer has prevailed on a case of this nature and the first time successful defense of an employer’s collective bargaining framework.

The Board was successfully represented by Andy Martone and Adam Doerr. A copy of the Judgment can be found here.
