Matt Simmons is Special Counsel to the Firm and heads the Firm’s Atlanta Office.  Matt’s primary practice area is labor and employment law and commercial litigation.  Matt has significant experience both as in-house counsel and in private practice.  Matt has achieved successful results for his clients, particularly in non-compete and trade secret actions.

Prior to joining the Firm, Matt was the Head of Litigation and Associate General Counsel at one of the nation’s largest staffing companies.  In this role, Matt managed the company’s entire litigation docket, primarily consisting of non-compete and trade secret litigation, breach of contract actions, federal and state wage and hour laws, and class actions.  Matt also served as the company’s liaison to its human resources department and participated in the management of its day-to-day corporate functions.  Finally, Matt was responsible for the oversight of high-dollar value collections and was integral to the recovery of approximately $4 million in otherwise bad debt.

While in private practice, Matt successfully tried or otherwise resolved dozens of cases in both Federal and state courts across the nation.  Matt worked on cases involving issues such as breach of contract, non-compete and unfair competition cases, business torts, partnership, shareholder and other internal corporate disputes, shareholder derivative lawsuits, and securities fraud claims.

Matt is a member of the Georgia Bar and the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar, and the Atlanta Council for Younger Lawyers.
